Department of Infectious Diseases
The Department of Infectious Diseases at Suining Central Hospital originated from the isolation ward of Boji Hospital in 1927, and is presently the only one in Suining dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. It undertakes the tasks of clinical medical care, scientific research, teaching, consultation, and guidance of infectious diseases for Suining and the neighboring areas, and also deals with the public health emergencies in Suining. With abundant technical force, the department has won its visibility and influence in central Sichuan Province and attracts patients from across the province. It currently consists of over 30 medical staff including 13 doctors, among whom there is 1 chief physician, 3 associate chief physicians,6 attending physicians, 2 associate chief senior nurses, 2 supervisor nurses, and 7 staff received master's degree. In May 2006, the 18th case of avian influenza in China was successfully cured in the department, which was the first surviving case in Sichuan. Suining Infectious Disease Hospital (SIDH) was founded in June 2006 with the Department of Infectious Diseases being its main part. Since then, the department has made great strides and its beds were increased to over 100. SIDH has successively dealt with the influenza A (H1N1) epidemic in 2009, the measles epidemic and the tuberculosis epidemic in 2015, and the H7N9 avian flu epidemic in 2017,etc.In addition, it also actively dispatch the backbone of the Department of Infectious Diseases to participate in the rescues of natural disasters such as the Yushu Earthquake and to provide medical aid to Africa.
At present, SIDH is a designated hospital for severe tuberculosis and opportunistic infections of AIDS in Sichuan Province, a cooperation unit of West China Hospital on the "Regional collaboration and comprehensive prevention & treatment project of chronic liver diseases", and is the attached institution of Suining Quality Control Center for Infectious Diseases. It provides a beautiful medical environment with fresh air, and is equipped with high-tech and advanced facilities such as color Doppler ultrasound, CR-radiography, invasive and noninvasive ventilator, blood gas analyzer, multi-parameter monitor, negative pressure wards, liver disease treatment instrument, and artificial liver therapeutic apparatus, etc. Its medical level is in the lead in Suining and advanced in Sichuan. Several staff are members of Suining expert groups of hepatitis, AIDS, tuberculosis, influenza A,encephalitis B,malaria, H7N9 avian flu, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, etc. During the H7N9 avian flu epidemic in 2017, patients were rescued with high cure rate and the mortality of severe cases was lower than the national average level, which were recognized and praised by provincial experts.
